RIDE TO THE HORNS. SUNDAY 17TH AUGUST 2008

Welcome to the UK's newest Sportive designed with the whole family in mind. There are three distances to suit all abilities 85m, 50m and a 9m family route all based around the Il Maschio restaurant at the Stag Inn in Mentmore near Leighton Buzzard on the Bedfordshire/Buckinghamshire border and only 35 miles from the centre of London.

The event will have star F1 treatment as locally-based Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber will be out on the long route to show how fit F1 drivers really are.

The routes are based around the north Chilterns with the 85-miler featuring such climbs as Whiteleaf, The Crong and Ivinghoe Beacon to name a few, the 50 mile route will be less testing but offers a great ‘come and try’ first sportive with a small sample of the bigger climbs on a 2 lap route.

The family ride is a nice country ride on quiet roads in the area. All rides start and finish at the Il Maschio restaurant.

The village of Mentmore will host a lively trade and fun village and it is hoped that some of Mark's F1 friends and sponsors will be in attendance and may even be tempted to ride some of the routes.
